  • Recycle Electronic equipment and the natural resources obtained from it is kept in South Africa.
  • Provide as many needy homes as possible with free Solar Packs

History of R & M Electronic Recyclers

Founded 2009 in Roodepoort, South Africa by former Councilor of the City of Johannesburg Rudi Du Plooy where he served on the Environment Committee (Sect79) and noted the need for proper Recycling and the problem of Computer illiteracy.  Continuous expansion since 2009 has taken place with a new branch in the Western Cape and we have become dealers in computer hardware, systems peripherals, accessories, computer services, printers, copiers and mobile phones.

NO JOB TO BIG OR TOO SMALL FOR R&M ELECTRONIC RECYCLERS.

  • With a new plant which is the first of it’s kind already built in South Africa, we are able to extract the natural resources in a environmental friendly manner and keep such in South Africa.
  • By keeping such resources in South Africa, we are doing our bit to ensure a stronger economy as we will be able to trade with such minerals.
  • After receiving a list of equipment from the client, we will submit a offer which the client can either accept or request a revised offer.
  • Once our offer is accepted by the client, we will inspect and collect the items, payment will be made in full.
  • We collect all old and redundant IT and related equipment. We normally look at how many of which item is available and the specification of such and make an offer and then it is for you to accept.
  • Most of our clients normally make a price and just claim the items worth on the books as to the depreciation of value etc...

Could you please indicate what items are available for collection, so that we are able to send a formal quote or could you please forward your proposed amount with a list of the items?

We will collect all items which are available at no cost to you, but will be making payment upon date of collection. I trust that we answered all your questions and look forward to receive your positive response soon. We are able to collect at short notice. All items which are old and broken are recycled.

All PCB’s found not to be in working order will be treated in a process to extract the resources, in short it will be destroyed in a environmentally manner to extract all the natural resources. All hard plastic gets bailed and packed for shipping in order to reproduce plastic for electronic equipment.

We recycle ALL old and redundant IT equipment and supply a Certificate of Destruction as per request, which will enable you to claim your carbon credits.

We comply with our clients request and will never deviate from what the conditions set forth were. We take the hard drive apart and recycle the metals.

Our recycling standard is compliant with all regulations set out by South African Governmental Legislation and in accordance to EU standards.

We have a strict policy whereby all Hard Drives are destroyed at either your premises or ours as to protect the integrity of our client. We destroy the hard drives by drilling a hole in it as to ensure no data recovery process will be able to recover any confidential information from Drive.

We also offer the client the option to keep all the hard drives, per say if the client is not satisfied with the first option.

All equipment collected from our clients are tested and a percentage thereof is donated on behalf of our client to numerous charities, the remainder is sold at a fraction of the price to ensure we are able to keep our doors open and provide the much needed computer education.

The items purchased from you assist us with our donations and to eradicate computer illiteracy.

  • We are compliant with BBBEE and EE.
  • We have 2 partners which consist of 1 Male and 1 female.
  • Our staff compliment (this is excluding the Partners) consists of 6 Females and 5 Males of various race.
  • We are a 100% South African owned business.
  • We have a Solar Pack Project, where your donation of E-Waiste is used to provide needy people with Solar Electricity.

We know and understand that the roll out of infrastructure takes time and is very expensive, thus we are committed to rolling out of the Solar Pack Project. Solar Pack project is a new project, where we will give away solar packs to people without electricity.

  • This is a project, which requires a large number of electronic waste to fund, as we are aiming to reach 300 000 homes without electricity, as a start.

Our cost for each solar pack is around R850 and contains;

  1. Small solar panel
  2. Rechargeable torch with Radio and MP3 Player
  3. Cellphonecharger
  4. 2 L.E.D lights with individual ON/OFF switches
  5. All cabling

We will be responsible for the maintenance, collection, testing and distribution of these packs to designated areas and where needed to install the D.I.Y system to do such, which are both time consuming and labour intense. Our aim is to have reached at least 50% of our intended target by the end of December 2017 and the remainder by the end of August 2018.

  • We initiated this project due to the ongoing shack fires, which normally end up with fatalities.
  • Poverty stricken areas, where the parents cannot afford to always load units on the pre paid meters.
  • Rolling out and replacing stolen infrastructure is both expensive and takes a bit of time.
  • Another reason for this project is, children living in informal settlements are also affected by the lack of electricity and often have to do their school work by candle light.

To reach the number of 300 000 houses an amount of R255 000 000.00 needs to be raised.

We understand that it is a lot of Electronic equipment to process and to reach the above mentioned target of 300 000 households we will need to employ additional staff, which will be trained in the art of Electronic waste, computer repairs and software and we will need to receive a lot of donations from Companies to reach that amount and to justify the employment of the additional staff which will consist mainly of youth.

  • Not all the institutions we approach have E-Waste available and we then encourage them to make a contribution towards this project in the form of money and state how many packs they are funding.
  • We also appeal to companies who are not in a position to, donate Electronic Waste nor make a monetary contribution, to then forward this proposal to business owners or directors of companies they deal with.
  • This project is funded through donations of Electronic Waste namely;
  • Old and redundant IT equipment, old cell phones, electric motors…basically if it used electricity or a battery and its old it falls into the E-Waste category.
  • Donations of Electronic waste are normally obtained from companies which upgrade their IT, CCTV and various, electronic equipment.

Please feel free to contribute to this project mentioned above, we do prefer an electronic waste donation as our commitment is to the environment, but if you don’t have we will accept a monetary contribution.

We also request that all institutions which made a contribution be present at the handing over ceremony.

As a suggestion we would appreciate if there were banners and if you wanted to add some literature giving information about your company or a shirt with the company logo.

Sometimes an obstacle to success is what aren’t there computers, for example.

With technology taking a larger role in education, students and adults on the wrong side of the digital divide can find themselves at a disadvantage, but that is no longer a problem for under privileged communities in Gauteng and Cape Town.

To date, we have made large donations to various NGO’s in and around Gauteng we have done such donations with equipment received, bought and donated by Organizations such as yourself. Donations are usually made on availability of stock.

We proud to say that the latest donations went to up coming SME’s which were in need and it was great to assist people in the community to empower themselves and the people within their respective areas of operation, as their businesses will serve as computer centers in their area.

Those who wish to donate a Computer / Office Equipment or Office Furniture can contact R & M ELECTRONIC RECYCLERS.

We pride ourselves on maintaining an enthusiastic commitment to protecting our environment through setting high standards to ensure the proper recycling processes are adhered to.
